Hundreds take part in “Chocolate Clinical Trial” at the Imperial Science Festival

At the weekend the Imperial Clinical Research Facility took part in the Imperial Science Festival with a stand demonstrating how clinical trials work – using chocolate mini rolls.

Nearly 500 people of all ages took part in the trial, which compared our control or best available treatment for afternoon hunger pangs (chocolate mini rolls) against our new treatment (chocolate and orange ones), demonstrating concepts such as randomisation and placebos along the way.

The results of the trial showed that chocolate and orange mini rolls were definitely the best treatment and we’ll be prescribing them to our research team from now on!

We also took the opportunity to talk to people about becoming a healthy volunteer in one of the many studies currently taking place at the ICRF.  If you would like to find out more about taking part in research please get in touch.
